Before he was the owner of one of the most respected luxury brokerages in Northeast Florida, Corey Hasting sat down for Episode 40 of the Real Estate Excellence Podcast to share his early journey in launching and growing Engel & Völkers First Coast.

At the time, Corey was only two years into opening his Jacksonville Beach shop. But his clarity, competitive mindset, and vision for building something elite were already undeniable.

A Former Linebacker’s Approach to Real Estate

Coming from a background in Division I football at Ohio University and brief stints with the NFL, Corey brought a rare intensity and discipline into real estate.

“I always treated this business like a sport. You have to have a strategy. You have to show up. You have to outwork people.”

That athlete’s mindset helped him recruit agents, establish a boutique brand in a competitive market, and begin expanding across Northeast Florida—long before most people saw what was coming.

Building Culture from Day One

Even in these early days, Corey wasn’t just selling real estate—he was building a culture of excellence. He talked in this episode about hiring the right agents, creating a professional environment, and being intentional about how his brand was perceived.

“I want to attract the kind of agent who’s proud to walk into our office… who wants to raise their game just by being here.”
