The early push in Florida was to do away with property taxes altogether. The conversation revisits the TV comparison Governor DeSantis made, as recalled on the show: you don't keep paying the store every year to use a TV you already bought.
Miss your property taxes and you face a tax lien. The home can be taken.
Amendment 3 doesn't eliminate property taxes. It raises the homestead exemption on non-school taxes to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028. School taxes still apply. Vote November 3, 2026.
