When he was younger, John Hillman says clients trusted him for his eagerness. He was the kid working hard, trying to prove himself and raise a family.
Now, with plenty of gray hair, he wants them to trust him for the wisdom to keep them out of the ditches.
His other rule: don't be afraid to say no. A lot of agents get nervous offering a counter approach. John will tell a client, "I don't think that's the best move for you and your family."
"I don't want to earn a commission on what I think is a bad decision. I want to earn a commission on a really good decision."
John is cofounder of Cabana Lane and the agent and developer behind The Eleven at Congaree & Penn.
