Tracy Hayes' read: when you're actually engaged and actively listening, the client is "sucking up the trust."
Marilyn Gilman agrees it's a skill — and admits it wasn't organic to her. "I'm a Chatty Cathy, and I'm a bit of a squirrel. I move fast."
So she trained herself to go slow when she goes fast, and to listen for what a client actually wants.
It shows up in strange ways. At a recent showing she reminded a buyer of what they'd told her they didn't want, and talked them out of writing the offer.
They'd forgotten they told her.
